Artist Statement
Artist Statement
Pictures paint the maker,
and mine are no exception.
I am truthful and a faker,
for my creations display a reflection.
Art comes in many forms,
like individual expression.
Inspiration can pound like storms,
and each piece is an introspection.
As an artist, I am someone who works hard to express myself. To me, that is what art is all about. I believe anything I’ve created is a reflection of me personally. My art is truly a self-examination. It is quite hard to form a solid statement about it. If I were to try, I’d say I work to illustrate how humans explicit emotion through abstraction, people, objects and animals using personification. Art is my solace, and an escape to a new realm of imagination where rules only exist if you wish so.
People are filled with unexplainable emotions that many choose to hide or not express. Being one of those people, I feel as if one of my goals as an artist is to try and illustrate those feelings in whatever way I find befitting, and hope that somehow in someway it will reach my viewers. That statement is one reason why I enjoy abstraction. I try to keep an open mind in creating my artwork, in hope that other people will approach it the same way. I may produce each piece with my own impressions and ideas, but whether someone does or does not empathize my artwork matters nothing to me because in all honesty, I am satisfied as long as that person can elicit some sort of connection to their own life. I enjoy people’s unique interpretations, in fact it is intriguing to me because I learn new things about my own creations and that is truly inspiring.
Art is a gift to me. To be able to have so much freedom with that of a pencil, paintbrush, camera, etc. is something I feel grateful for. There’s not a passing day that I am not reminded how lucky I am to have found something so beautiful, and so fascinating. Art has always been compelling to look at and create. With or without words, it can impact you. With or without color, it can captivate your attention. It has voice without vocals, and moves without movement. It provokes thought and raises questions in the deep part of the mind. Art is the gateway to imagination and perception of the world, there can never be a single establishment of “good art” because every piece is a contemplation of the artist’s soul.
Art is nothing more than a person’s personality painted in a new way.
